Why do I need a travel advisor?
In this day and age of big-box stores, Google searches, and AI, you can find a vacation and book it relatively easily. What you don't get when shopping that way is confidence in your supplier and product, personal support when problems arise, or the value a travel advisor provides. And all those reviews? They're someone else's opinions based on their travel priorities, not yours. Influencers and bloggers are after clicks and followers; they're in it for themselves, not you.
As a trained and certified travel advisor, I partner with vetted, in-destination specialists who live and work in the country you're visiting. Together, we get to know you - your preferences, goals, must-haves, and wish-list items - and design a signature travel experiences that truly fits your needs. And, when the unexpected happens - delayed or canceled flights, weather closures, political or civil upheaval - I'm available to help, reach out to my trusted connections, and find solutions to keep your trip on track.
All of this to say that you don't need a travel advisor. When you partner with me, what you get is the best "whole package" for a reasonable investment.
Do you charge a service fee?
Yes, I do. After our comlimentary consultation and before we begin the trip designing process, I'll require a planning fee of $200 multi-destination trips and $100 for single-stop vacations. This covers research, itinerary design, and logistics. Travel costs (flights, hotels, tours) are separate from my planning fee. The planning fee is non-refundable, as it covers the time and expertise that go into designing your custom itinerary.
How do I pay for my trip?
I will send several forms for you to complete once we decide to proceed in planning your trip. One of these forms is a Payment Authorization Form, where you'll indicate your preferred method of payment. All information provided is kept secure and in strict confidence.
Initial deposits and final payment schedules are generally determined by the tour operator or hotel and vary by destination. Sometimes, payment plans can be arranged, but not always. I'll be sure to clearly communicate the financial parameters during the planning process so there are no surprises.
What is travel insurance? Do I need it?
Travel protection, often called trip insurance, helps to protect the financial investment of your vaction should any unexpected changes come about. It is not mandatory, but something that I highly recommend to all my clients.
Depending on the level of coverage you select, your policy may reimburse you for travel delays, lost luggage, missed flights, or even illness or injury while abroad. Many U.S. medical plans don’t cover international care, making travel protection essential. Some policies offer what's called "Cancel for Any Reason" coverage, covering a portion or the full cost of the trip should you need to cancel prior to departure due to personal or professional circumstances.
I don't travel without travel insurance, and as your travel advisor, I’ll give you the tools to consider and choose the right protection for your trip.
